JANMASHATMI 2022

The festival of Janmashtami is celebrated on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha according to the Hindu calendar. Mythological belief is that on this day Lord Krishna was born in Rohini Nakshatra at midnight. Therefore, on this day there is a law to worship the child form of Lord Shri Krishna. This time on Janmashtami, the coincidence of Dhruva and Vriddhi Yoga is also happening. Worshiping in this yoga will be fruitful. This year there is a difference of opinion among people regarding the date of Janmashtami. The date of Janmashtami is being told on two days, 18 August and 19 August. According to some, on August 19, there will be Ashtami date for the whole day. Janmashtami will be celebrated on 19th August as Udayatithi is valid. At the same time, according to the Panchang, the Ashtami date will start from 09:21 on August 18. Dhruva and Vriddhi Yoga are also being formed on this day. In such a situation, keeping Janmashtami fast on 18th August would be auspicious. Due to these differences, Janmashtami will be celebrated on both 18th and 19th August. Janmashtami will also be celebrated on different days by the people of Vaishnava sect and Smarta sect.

Special bhog is offered to Lord Krishna on Janmashtami. On this day, 56 dishes of Lord Krishna are prepared in temples. But there are some things which are very dear to Lord Shri Krishna and Kanha is pleased by offering these things to Shri Krishna. On Janmashtami, offer things like Makhan-mishri, Coriander Panjiri, Makhana Pag, Cucumber, Panchamrit, Laddu, Pede, Kheer etc. to Shri Krishna.
