The Govardhan Puja is commemorated on the second day of Diwali, the Gujarati New Year. On this day, people worship Lord Krishna, Govardhan mountain, and cattle. On this day, 56 or 108 different foods are prepared and served to Lord Krishna. These dishes are known as "Annakoot." Lord Krishna is said to have spared the lives of millions of creatures and beings from Lord Indra's anger by holding the massive Govardhan mountain under his tiny finger with his heavenly might to safeguard the inhabitants of Braj. The Legend Behind the Celebration

Among the most famous legends associated with the festival of colors is the one involving the demon Holika and her brother, King Hiranyakashipu. As a powerful King of great stature, Hiranyakashipu was full of pride. His intention was to be worshipped and followed by everyone. His son was unlike him.
Prahlad was the son of King Hiranyakashipu. As opposed to worshiping his father, he worshiped Lord Vishnu. For this reason, he turned to his sister for help.

Holika forced Prahlad to sit on her lap in the blazing fire while she proved that she was immune to burning, and Prahlad would get burned. However, what happened was quite different. Lord Vishnu, the protector, saved his devotee from burning, and Holika the demon was punished for her actions.
Another story is about Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha. According to mythology, Krishna loved Radha deeply. But, because their skin tones were different, he faced comments from people around him. Therefore, Lord Krishna applied colors to his "Radhe" and the Gopis did not look at his complexion.

As Shubh Muhurat approaches, worship Holika and pour clear Jal to initiate the Pooja.
You must pray three to seven times with family members after this to keep the evil out of your mind.

Last but not least, you should surrender barley, gram hair, wheat, etc., in your place of worship to the Holika divine flames and keep in your place of worship the ashes of the Dahan.
